Visit the renowned lodges of the Canadian Rockies on some of the best backcountry trails.
August 16-24, 2020*
"Go where you feel most alive…"
Dotted with jagged ice-capped peaks, stunning trails, alpine meadows, and diverse wildlife: the renowned Rockies live up to their illustrious reputation. Join us for a legendary point-to-point trail running traverse where we will cover over 100+ km in the span of 9 days.
~ 10 guest maximum ~
This once in a lifetime traverse starts at Nipika Mountain Resort near the headwaters of the Kootenay River and ends at Shadow Lake Lodge, on the other side of the continental divide. We will stay at five luxurious backcountry lodges for a total of 8 nights. The lodges are between from 20-35 km apart by trail. The terrain in the Rockies is a mix of incredible single track, rocky overland terrain, and alpine ascents and descents. The running will be mostly on gorgeous single track, with some technical on and off trail sections during the first 3 days of the traverse. No matter your ability, expect to be a bit slower and to hike some of the climbs to accommodate the long days, backcountry terrain, and additional weight of your day pack.
Enjoy a shake out run, as well as the homelike comforts of Nipika’s luxurious, self-contained log cabins, tucked away in the majestic East Kootenays as we gather and prepare for adventure.
We’ll run 10 km on rugged trails to Talus Lodge. Talus is a back to basics refuge nestled in amongst larch trees on a picturesque rocky plateau. We’ll run on and off trail and relax here for two nights.
On Wednesday we’ll run 35 km on technical terrain (on and off trail) to Assiniboine Lodge, situated at the base of majestic Mt. Assiniboine. Take in the soaring peaks, wildflowers, and turquoise lakes.
After 2 days at Assiniboine Lodge, we’ll run 26 km on epic single track to Sunshine Meadows. We’ll spend 1 night here in the hotel at Sunshine Village.
On Saturday we’ll run 30 km on single track to Shadow Lake Lodge. This lodge is nestled near the towering grandeur of Mt. Ball within Banff National Park. We’ll spend 2 nights here running and relaxing.
On Monday we will run out of Shadow Lake to shuttles that will take us back to Nipika. Here we will depart with epic memories and new friends!
We have designed this trip to be suited to serious "get after it" runners. If you are comfortably running trail stage races and want to take your terrain, endurance, and training to the next level, this is for you. The distances will be long and varied each day and you'll be with a more advanced group of runners. Must be comfortable running 30+ km on trails.
We will sleep each night in the renowned luxe lodges of the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy the simple pleasures of an authentic and unplugged wilderness experience enhanced by the luxurious touches provided by each individual lodge. Each lodge is unique and will have a slightly different backcountry flair to their personalized service.

You will carry your lunch, layers, pertinent daily items, and snacks with you each day of running in a day pack.
