What to expect when you come running with us.
What TO EXPECT
Daily runs on our retreats range from 6 km to 30KM based on group ability and how much time we have. Running is on a mix of single track and double track trails and some road running on specific trips. You can expect to be adventuring on foot anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 or 4 hours daily.
Most of our retreats take place in the mountains at a reasonably high elevation. If you’re from sea level this could have an impact on your physiology, but don’t be discouraged! We are happy to customize the excursions to meet the needs of everybody.
We have at least two guides certified with advanced first aid who support the different pace groups, so that you can find a pace and distance that is comfortable for you. We strive to maintain a ratio of 1 guide to maximum 8 guests.
Trail running experience is not required. Your guide will provide running tips for trails and varying terrain during your retreat.
You will encounter trails with a variety of technical features that may include roots, rocks, bridges, water or mud, and more. Occasionally we use trails that are safe but have some exposure to heights. We encourage you to let us know if you have concerns in advance so we can customize the running to your needs as much as possible. You are also welcome to walk/hike trail sections as needed.
Trail running shoes are recommended but not required. Road shoes are fine for most of the surfaces we run on, however, if it’s wet or muddy trail running shoes will provide you with the best traction.
